Global Law Enforcement Engagement: Expanding our Education Efforts

At Caudena, one of our primary goals is to empower law enforcement agencies with cutting-edge blockchain forensics capabilities. Last week, through a series of workshops and speaking engagements across three countries, we had the opportunity to share our expertise in person while gaining valuable insights into the evolving needs of investigators globally.

FBI Workshop, New York

Our tour begins in the United States, where we conducted an in-person workshop hosted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The session brought together domestic investigators from various federal agencies, while even more law enforcement representatives from more than 20 countries participated virtually. The focus was on practical applications of advanced demixing and fingerprinting techniques, highlighting our recent analysis of the eXch mixing service. We are grateful to the FBI for graciously hosting the session at their New York headquarters, as we aim to take a cross-departmental but also cross-country approach to knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

BKA Workshop, Germany

In Germany, we conducted a specialized workshop at the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA), Germany’s federal criminal police office. Regional crime unit investigators from across the country gathered to learn about advanced blockchain forensics, with an emphasis on transaction fingerprinting and filtering techniques. All investigators partaking in the program are given free access to Caudena’s Prism platform, allowing them to immediately apply these new capabilities to their active investigations.

Blockchain Intelligence Forum, Bucharest

The week culminated at the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB)’s Blockchain Intelligence Forum, where Caudena contributed in multiple sessions:

  • A technical presentation on fingerprinting & filtering capabilities
  • A CEO-level panel discussion on Data Exchange Standards & Interoperability
  • A law enforcement-focused panel featuring representatives from Europol, the Basel Institute, Guardia di Finanza, and the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine

Key themes that emerged during our discussions included:

  • The growing sophistication of cryptocurrency-enabled crime
  • The importance of specialized tools & specialized training
  • The need for interoperable data standards in the industry
  • The importance of publicly verifiable, court-admissible blockchain evidence
  • The necessity to work alongside AI in next-generation investigation typologies

Looking Forward

What stands out from these engagements is the evolution in public sector knowledge around blockchain intelligence over the past few years. Law enforcement agencies worldwide are moving beyond basic tool adoption to develop a nuanced understanding of various criminal typologies and the sophisticated approaches needed to combat them.

At Caudena, we remain committed to supporting this evolution through continued development of our solutions, providing ongoing training opportunities and actively engaging with the law enforcement community. The conversations and insights from the past week will directly inform our ongoing work to make blockchain forensics more accessible and effective for investigators.

We look forward to continuing this crucial work alongside our law enforcement partners globally.
